Born in Gwalior, Seema Ghurayya manages to create work that is almost minimal and yet captivating. She completed her diploma and master's degree at the Jiwaji University, Gwalior. Light colours and sparse strokes compliment her abstract, indescribable subjects such as lightness, silence and freshness. She abstains from choosing any recognizable forms, choosing instead to give voice to the quiet. Ghurayya has exhibited widely in India as well as abroad. She has also been a part of several national biennales. She lives and works in Bhopal, and credits the rock carvings in Bhopal as inspiration for some of her drawings.
