Farhan Mujib’s collages are made with hundreds of pieces of printed papers put together painstakingly to create complex and intricate jewel like compositions; they represent interiors and exteriors of dwellings that are both mythical as well as real. As you look, you enter a world that is charming, mysterious and seems to be decaying. Mujib began making his collages out of the pages of Span , which, 30 years ago, was the only Indian magazine printed in colour on quality paper, because the United States Information Service had propaganda to make and money to burn. The magic he worked was this: he made surreal beauty from scraps.
